I have two questions regarding the classic "arco floor lamp". Is anyone familiar with the reproduction made by White furniture (www.whiteonwhite.com)? It looks like a pretty good reproduction and prices around $500 (as opposed to over $2000 for the "licensed" model from Flos). Does anyone have any opinions on this reproduction or know of any other decent reproductions?
And secondly the lamp fully extended is 8 feet in height, coincidentally the same height as my ceiling. However I've heard if not fully extended the height decreases by several inches. So my question is would this look strange aesthetically to be in a room where the stem misses the ceiling by only a few inches? I guess this is more of a interior design question than anything. Any thoughts or opinions are much appreciated. While I'm a big fan of mid-century modern design, I'm a bit of a newbie to interior design in general. Thanks.
Having a ceiling height of only 8 feet should definitely be a major consideration in your choice of lighting. In my opinion, the arco style lamp will be overpowering considering your ceiling height. Your room will appear small and cramped. It would be best to leave the arco lamp as a design you admire, rather than a design you can live with. You would be much wiser to keep your lighting choices to table lamps and low or mid-height floor lamps.
