Hi paulr_dallas,
Alot will depend on what you want. Usually, but not always so, original vintage items in pristine condition will cost more than their current production counterparts. Are you a stickler for wanting vintage items or is the look all that you are concerned with?
Also, many classic designs have been "knocked-off" by numerous companies and can cost much less than the originals or faithful reproductions by original manufacturers and those companies that have been officially licensed to produce the new items. If you don't mind variations in quality and/or construction then these less pricey knock-offs may suit your taste.
Of course it is a great way to create a stylish interior on a budget. The problem with going with the cheaper repros is that they may not be as durable, and although you certainly won't spend your retirement money in your purchase, you won't be making the investment that an original classic can become.
Good luck!
