I have never seen any Danish Modern furniture in Huntsville AL. I don't go to the antique stores all the time or anything, but when I have, I don't see anything remotely modern, and no one ever seems to anticipate getting anything. Where can I look in the Huntsville area, or Nashville, Birmingham, Memphis, or Atlanta? Any farther out than that would be difficult unless they have a fantastic website and a sterling reputation, but could probably go up to 6 hours drive out if there absolutely isn't anything closer.
Specifically, I'm looking for a teak dresser that is similar to some from the 60's that I already own.
And information on a Hans Wegner bed I own (and would like to continue using), particularly information on who could do some repair work without damaging the integrity of the piece.
Actually, I'm not really that sure about the bed itself, but the night tables which are attached to the headboard are definately stamped GETAM Denmark, and appear to be signed by Hans W....something or other. And the design is consistent with all 2 or 3 pictures I've seen of other Hans Wegner beds (different styles, but similar design elements).
Thanks!

Hi, I just moved from the Southeast. Lived in Memphis, Huntsville, Chattanooga and Nashville. The southeast has to be the worst area for mod furniture. It is almost impossible to find teak or mod in the south. I have transported several Danish teak items from Toronto Canada. The best place ever for teak. Nashville has a nice shop called Highbrow Furniture. I have never seen any teak there but nice furniture and other items. Well worth going to if you are in the area. www.highbrowfurniture.com. A guy named Chuck had a large warehouse of stuff but I closed it down because of no interest. Memphis has a nice shop too. I purchased some Temporama dishes there. Also no teak that I have seen. I forget the name of the Memphis shop. Near the Memphis Zoo. Let me know if you need the name I could track it down. Nothing good in Huntsville or Chattanooga. The best way is to keep checking ebay narrowing your search to these cities and searching Danish Teak I have found a few teak pieces before. Good luck. Mark
I know this isn't a new posting, but I'd like to suggest a great store. City Issue, in Atlanta, GA, is a great source for Danish Modern. You can see them at www.cityissue.com.

Not exactly next door, but Father & Sons (www.swankarama.com) in Raleigh, NC is great. They ship all over the US. Lots on line too. A great shop in the SouthEast US!!!! I think it is the combination of the $$$ in the 1950s & 1960s when Research Triangle Park was built combined with a current population that prefers traditional colonial means Father & Sons finds some real treats out there that get overlooked by the local community. Not to be missed.
