i have an early herman miller bubble lamp that needs a cleaning. i dont think it has ever been cleaned. it looks fine when lit with a high watt bulb, 200w, is this too high? your help is appreciated. ty b/mac

Well, take this for what it is worth and don't blame me if it doesn't work ...BUT I have had success in the past cleaning old bubbles VERY gently with scrubbing bubbles cleanser in a bathtub. You have to take great care not to be too abrasive otherwise you can create a puncture. And I am not sure what the chemical may do long term to the shade material... the ones I cleaned like this though are still looking good to this day and that has been several years ago since I originally cleaned them this way. BEWARE though as this could potentially damage your shade. I don't want any email about any destroyed bubbles!
