I am buying a pair of red LCW's in the near future. As far I can tell, they routinely go for around $529 from online retailers here in the US. Obviously, these are made by Herman Miller. I found a place that sells Vitra imports and their price is around $400. Does anbody here know whether there's any quality difference between the Vitra and Herman Miller editions?

Hello. I will start by saying that I am a Herman Miller employee, and anything that I express here is my own opinion, and not that of my employer.

The Vitra products are very high quality, and are indeed produced under license for distribution outside North America. However, Herman Miller's contract dealers can usually get close to,or beat the prices from online retailers, with superior service. The HMI warranty, should you ever have a problem, includes parts and labor- you may even get the dealer to come pick it up...

I'm not sure about the particulars, but I would question if there is any warranty on the Vitra chairs at all in N.A...
