I bought this home in a prime area in ohio on a 2 archer wooded lot on a hill. The living room was a garage converted. I'm having a hard time getting it to look right. Do I need color? Most of my furniture is new modern/ikea, and a few classical pieces, in which my wife and I will some day replace even more with throughout the house. Just need money. Anyways, any ideas? Should we go with color? I prefer the white look, but not sure with such spacious walls...

Go buy a Wallpaper magazine, it will give you too many ideas for finishing looks for modern interiors, find something to add a bit more of that modern elegance, it is a little too stark.
Maybe an op art effect design on the wall with the fire place? Something to give it some classic age or an era? A patina? Or ethnicity? It looks too new, therefore uninviting or cozy? I think this maybe what you are looking for. I hope I helped. The magazines name is: WALLPAPER, if you don't see it near the interior design look by things like the art magazines or by alternative mags.

I suggest you go for a elegant interior design for your rehab home. The idea has a cozy effect, plus you can maximize the. space and the furniture you currently own. Just my two cents.
