I can not pare down my CD collection. Currently, I estimate that I own more than a thousand cds. (I have a similar problem with books) Most CD storage systems are hideous, but the dimensions work well because of the depth. The main problem with CD storage towers is that I fill them, but then have to move everything around at least once a month to accomodate new CDs. The same thing goes for CD books. (I try to keep them in alphabetical order) Does anyone have some ideas on how to store this monstrous collection without compromising the modern feel of the space?

Hi- I was struggling with the same problem(although my cd collection is much smaller). I found an answer but you may not like it I threw out all my jewel cases and bought 2 cd binders that hold 125cd each. You will need to get many more but the space you save will be worth it. It will be hard to get rid of the cases at first but it's worth it. You can have a binder for each genre or mood and it's very cathartic to de-clutter . Good luck - Heather

I currently have well over 2000 cds. I had a friend (metalworker) make two wall units, each with twelve rods. Each "rod" shelf holds approximately 85 cds. He even welded ball feet on them. It is strong, sturdy, looks great and you can keep the cds in thier protective cd cases. Take a look in your yellow pages, and see if someone is willing to make a project for you. That is defiently a lot of CDS. I think the metal shelf idea is a good one. May use that one myself.
