Hi, I was really lucky recently. I purchased two Eames DAX chairs that I had seen in a window of an office building being sold. I thought I was getting a great deal as it was, but was even more pleased to find they are Zenith chairs with rope edges.
Since they have sat in the lobby of a small company for the past 55 years they have become a bit dirty. One even has really, really old gum on the bottom. There is a lot of filth showing around the rope edges where waiting clients probably grabbed the sides of the armrests...
So I want to give them a really good cleaning, but of course I don't want to use anything to abrasive or that would react badly with the old finish. Anyone have an experience or thoughts?

My only suggestion would be make sure you use some type mild soap defiently no harsh cemicals.
