Can anyone read the mark on this dish? I am stumped.I would confuse it as a contemporary piece, HD Designs or something from Pier One, if it weren't for the underside. The glaze is a gorgeous matte black, with hand-applied pelican designs on all sides. Although I'm not sure, (okay, maybe they aren't pelicans) that the designer's ever actually seen a pelican. Or fish for that matter. Doesn't matter, I like the loose style.
It may be a butter dish? Does anyone know? It would be helpful to keep the butter soft, yet cat-free.
The mark? I'm only guessing, and ask . com hasn't helped at all, with so little to go on. The text at top looks like VEGA, VECA, or VEOA. Can anyone help?
