The name of the lamp is actually Profile. In 1954 Lightolier came out with the Profile series which feature lamps with the thin wood coatings around the legs. The tripod lamp you linked to was one of the series. Another tripod desk lamp, taller floor lamp and a single lamp with an adjustable shade completed the series. All shared the wood and brass theme. Gerald Thurston and Gino Sarfatti were the two most active designers for Lightolier at this time and often collaborated on certain lamps. The "saucer" Profile lamp screams Sarfatti who did a similar lamp for the Italian firm Arteluce.
I can't believe I got a response from a post I left in 2003. It was like having someone find your message in a bottle that you'd tossed in the Ocean. As fate would have it, I have another Mystery Lamp that I would like help in identifying. If Historian would like to email me, I send back a photo. sherylnapa@sbcglobal.net Thank you!
