I don't have a picture as yet but we have a 1970s suite of sofa, 2 chairs and stool made by Stouby of Denmark. Solid teak open-style frame, foam seat cushions on metal mesh "platform", oatmeal fleck tweed-type upholstery. Fairly low design, front of seat cushion about 14" high.
Foam and upholstery wearing, though local upholsterer said frame excellent and worth doing. However, design now does not suit so we are considering selling.
Looking over this site it's difficult to tell whether we have something of value or not. Would anyone have any views or advice? Many thanks.
Hi Jeff, I found this link to some Stouby stuff, it looks like you can contact this store and ask them if your sofa is worth anything or not. Good Luck! -Loren
Hi Loren - not sure how to reply other than through the discussion! Many thanks for the suggestion - the guy at Red House rang back with some ideas. Apparently 1970s Danish furniture is now sought after and he suggested putting to auction.
He was also very excited about his store being mentioned on another website, especially one with a source apparently in the USA or Canada - as I presume this one is. So you've made his day especially if you are resident there.
Hey Jeff, That's pretty funny,I am glad he was happy about being mentioned. I just went to google, and searched for Stouby furniture and his site came up, I actually live in Virginia, so unfortunately I won't be able to stop in and have a look at the store in person. Good luck on the couch and let us know what you find out! -Loren
