I'm doing some research on a particular line of furniture manufactured by Madison Furniture Industries, in the early or mid 1960's.
I'm hoping to find out as much as I can about this line of furniture, including:
What was the line called? During what years was it manufactured? What models and variations did it come in? Who was the designer? How many of them were manufactured?
In addition to uncovering the history of this line of furniture, I'm hoping the information will also help me in obtaining a few pieces!
I've made up a printable "wanted poster" with photos of the furniture line in question, and my contact information. You can find it online here: http://www.strafe.com/Wanted.jpg
If you come across any pieces of this furniture -- in *any* condition -- please drop me a line! Also, please feel free to pass this request on to anyone else you think might stand a chance of helping!
Thanks, B.J. West

Just in case anyone is interested, I thought I'd share the results of my detective work so far:
Madison Furniture Industries 2400 series line of System Seating
Designed by Arthur Umanoff
Manufactured from 1962 to 1969
The frames were MFI's first use of walnut. At the time, Madison made everything out of solid wood, or laminated parts, machined to the curves they wanted. However, the seats and backs on the 2400 series were made out of bent plywood, purchased from Shelby Williams in Morristown, TN, and bandsawed into the desired shape.
Variations Single chair (#2405), Love seat, with right arm or left arm or both arms Three seat sofa, with right arm or left arm or both arms
There was a line of tables which went with this series, in either laminate tops or parquet teak, which could make a corner arrangement, or in the straight with a table next to the end of a unit.
The line was used for Office waiting rooms, for Doctors, and for Hospitals, and other companies where they had waiting rooms.
MFI made thousands of these seats, and then adapted the basic seat to other chairs with Oak Arms in another Seating System, possibly by 1970. The same seat and back, made out of curved plywood was used for at least 15 years.
