Does anyone know some of the companies that made replicas of the Eames lounge chair and ottoman? I just picked up a cherry(?)/brown leather version (for cheap) that is made by 'Charlton' according to the label underneath, and I'm curious when it might have been made.
Headrest supports are wood rather than metal, and the arms are not the wraparound style of current 670s. In addition it has a tilt mechanism. Otherwise looks very similar to an Eames.
I've been seeing more and more lately. I'm definitely not an expert but i know Palazetti and Grandi Maestri make them, and could use various labels.
I don't know if its a new phenomenon, but fake LCW's have been popping up on ebay. You must really read and re-read the descriptions before bidding. The wording can be very deceptive.
Back in the day- "Selig" also manufactured a chair which was also almost identical to the Eames lounge chair. The arms are a bit different and the dimensions just a few inches off. I would not buy an Eames chair without an offical tag.
I actually work for emassive.com so I can vouch for our version of the Eames Chair (we call it the Aris Chair and Ottoman). The quality is excellent and we use top grain Italian leather. It looks like the original post was from quite a while ago, but if anyone is looking for classic reproductions, we have some really nice ones (Barcelona Chairs, BRNO, Bertoia, etc.). And I don't work on commission or anything, so I'm not posting this with any hidden agendas
To be honest, I am sick of seeing all the Eames lounge chair replicas. I stumbled upon this online furniture company that has new an interesting designs. My niece was really satisfied with the couch she bought, so I want to try to order something as well!
I recently bought an Eames Lounge Chair reproduction from www.manhattanhomedesign.com. The chair's specifications were on point and it's super comfortable. I used to have an original but had to go with the replica this time around and i wasn't disappointed at all.
I think this link will be very helpful. I was referred to Manhattan Home Design about a year ago and purchased my first replica piece. I am extremely satisfied.
