Hi Scott, I contacted Peter Laszlo, the son of Paul Laszlo, and directed him to the image that you posted and he so politely provided the following information. Please note that he prefaces the following comments by saying this is only his opinion and nothing more than that. quote: I am virtually certain that the tile is not of my fathers design. When he used tile - which was not very often, it was more of a mosaic effect - and certainly would not have used the relatively common blue and white tile with the very wide grout lines.
If I were betting on the original top - I would say it was probably mirrored - and more than likely with a 3/4" to 1" bevel. Of course - one way to find out is to remove one tile carefully - and see if the top of the base is finished or unfinished. This would not necessarilly be determinative - but I doubt that Brown Saltman would have spent money finishing a surface which would be covered with a mirror.

Scott, As a follow-up I found this Laszlo Table on the web today at another website. It seems to be the same table or from the same series as yours...it shows the table without the tile. Barry Bryant GOMOD.COM :: bringing modern design home
