Hello Everyone,
I am including pictures of a pair of vintage Laurel Lamp Mfg. Co. floor lamps. They belonged to my grandmother, and I believe that they were purchased at Gabbert's, a high-end furniture store in the Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota area, probably in the 1960s. The paper label on the lamp socket says "Laurel Lamp Mfg. Co., Newark, N.J." The metal parts have a brushed finish, possibly nickel. The blue surrounds are acrilyc plastic or similar. The globes are not original, as they were broken sometime in the past and replaced. The original globes were apparently a good deal larger, but also round and white, possibly made of bisque porcelain.
The current globes measure about 5 1/2" or 6" in diameter, and are neckless. The hole opening is about 3 1/2". The globe just kind of sits loosely in a circular groove that is part of the light bulb fixture (pictures of which are attached.) Can anyone direct me to a good place to get replacement globes like this that are larger in overall diameter, but with the same neckless opening size? So far I have not really found anything by doing internet searches.
Although I have loved these lamps since I was a kid and would never sell them, I am very curious as to the value, rarity, and history of these lamps. Internet searches have yielded many different lamps by this company, but none like these. The floor lamps with the white "mushroom" shaped shades made by the this company are very similar, to the point that I think the metal base and the socket are exactly the same, but there is the obvious difference of a different globe shape and the absence of the blue plastic surrounds.
