I have found a beautiful ALMA DESK '64? MCM at the local Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Rock Hill, SC. It was from an attorney's office. Alma Desk Company was in business for 98 yrs in High Point NC. The name Alma Desk Company was used starting in 1929 after the founder, Charles Hayworth, died and his widow took over the business. They began specializing in executive office furniture. This desk is large, solid walnut with maple inlaid on the top. Great tappered legs with brass caps. It has a side attached desk for a typewriter with two drawers. The back of the desk (part a client would see when walking in) is the best part! It is a basket weave of stips of maple or birch, I couldn't get a good look at it. I told the manager that he had it too low priced ($49)!!! He bumped it up to $100, but it is still a great find. I'll try to get a photo of the desk. Does anyone have an idea of the value? I can't use it. I'm waiting to get my father's Jens Risom deskl, bookshelf, and credenza!! YUM> THanks for any info.
