I found this desk at a thrift store for $39. It's a Brown & Saltman desk designed by John Keal. Someone has painted it black. Does anyone know the name of this desk? It has 3 drawers that you can see in the photo and there are two shelves that run the length of the desk in the front. Does someone know what it was worth before it was painted, and what it might be worth now? See attached link for image. Brown & Saltman Desk
Nice find. A you'll note on the logo, the company's name is Brown-Saltman, not Brown & Saltman (many people make this mistake).
Everyone is painting these black because it's the current trend and it sells, but in my opinion the original finish is much nicer. Regarding value, I think you might be able to get 300-400 dollars for it. No information is available on Brown-Saltman because they had a devastating fire that destroyed all their records and no catalogs exist.
Looks to be form the 1960s but I can't guarantee it.
